ESAB Gothenburg is the global center of excellence for R&D with appr. 200
employees which covers most functions as R&D, Sales, Strategy, and support
functions. We are located on Lindholmen Gothenburg.
ESAB is now looking for a senior chemist/project leader to join the chemical
laboratory at our Gothenburg site. This team is part of Filler Metals R&D and is
responsible for state-of-the-art chemical analysis and expertize on all materials and
products in ESAB´s product portfolio and dealing with fundamental knowledge
required for a sustainable development. You will work with a number of different
techniques such as for example OES, ICP, XRF, XRD, SEM-EDS hydrogen and
moisture determinations.
Responsibilities
As a team member of R&D Filler Metals you will contribute with chemical expertise
and project management in the development of welding consumables for ESAB
globally. You will run, lead and report on projects within the field of chemistry in close
collaboration with colleagues from all the other R&D teams.
• Responsible for leading and participating in the development of sustainable
welding materials.
• Make significant and innovative contributions by initiating, managing and
supporting research, methods and tools for development projects
• Utilize and keep up to date with the state of the art knowledge on relevant
measurements and laboratory techniques
• Use chemical know how to solve challenges for welding materials
• Create, develop and modify methods and techniques to test materials and
formulas used in products, exercising professional judgement in the evaluation
• Lead investigations related to welding consumables to build knowledge for
new and innovative products
• Contribute with overviews of scientific literature in relevant fields in order to
scientifically substantiate issues related to chemical analysis development
Profile and required competences
You are a team player with strong collaboration skills. A practical touch, accuracy and
analytical thinking are also important qualities. To thrive in this role, you need to be
able to work independently, and are used to taking your own initiatives. As a person,
you are curious and enjoy working together with others and share your results,
experiences, and knowledge. Since several different tasks are relevant in the role,
you need to be flexible and service oriented.
• We believe that you have a Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Chemistry
• We see that you are used to delivering results, by your excellent
communication skills and a strategic plan
• Minimum 8 years’ experience from development or research work from
Chemistry, Steel or similar industry
• Experience in project management
• Experience with a wide range of analytical techniques for inorganic elemental
analysis
• Experience with surface analysis or organic analysis is seen as an advantage
• High integrity
• You are proficient in both written and verbal communications in Swedish and
English
• Meritorious if you have experience in using calculation tools such as Factsage
& Thermocalc
